Holiday Math Event

Our first Holiday Event was very successful. We had six families walking around the house and exploring the math activities. We had a scavenger hunt with geometry and counting problems, the popular area and calendar puzzles, build your own Icosahedron snowman, decorate Koch’s snowflake and create flower shapes with the family of Epicycloids. Our big Icosahedron snowman was very popular when taking selfies, and great to start a conversation about 20 equilateral triangles, and vertices where 5 of them meet. Our student-teacher Tristan was amazing discussing math ideas with our visitors!

Adults and older kids were surprised with the visual effects of rotating images, a wave pendulum and how mirrors can be used to distort or create new images.

All in all we had a wonderful time, and we are thankful with all who made this day possible! Happy Math Holidays!
