A word from Director Ben Duong

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to share out the first event and some of the interactions we have had with community. Our first event was October 22 at the Houston Arboretum for there ArBOOretum Halloween Fun. We had several activities from dissection puzzles, the daily calendar puzzle (Adults favorite thing), mirror books, and our biggest attraction butterfly origami. The kids loved the origami, and we had a chance to talk to them about how the Monarch Butterfly was migrating down to Mexico. Engaging these kids in puzzles, and critical thinking was enjoyable amazing opportunity to show them that math is not just worksheets and numbers, but things that are happening. I wanted to thank Marlon and Stephany for helping out that hot Day!

I would like to recognize our first guest to the house, Nico and his mom Tina! Nico came in and played for several hours building blocks, and played with the puzzles that we had around the house. It was fun and energic, and a reminder that math can be fun. That we can play with math at a young age and have an amazing time. Tina enjoyed some of the activities too, and have been a recurring visitors. I have much appreciation for Tina and Nico for stopping by.
